Rest, Rise, and Walk in Freedom: Trusting the God Who Breaks Every Chain

Have you ever found yourself checking your watch, wondering if God has forgotten the promises He made to you?

Waiting can be one of the hardest tests of faith — but I’m here to remind you: your God is an on-time God.

Look at Peter’s story in Acts 12. The night before Herod planned to execute him, Peter was chained between two soldiers. The situation looked hopeless — but what did Peter do? He rested.

He wasn’t pacing the floor. He wasn’t plotting an escape. He rested so that God could do the rest.

There’s a powerful lesson in that: sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is to stop striving, and start trusting.

When you allow God to take control, there is no weapon formed against you that can prosper.

God doesn’t need help finding the key to your breakthrough. He already holds it in His hand.

Soon Come: Trusting God’s Timing

Now, let’s be real. Waiting on God’s timing isn’t always easy.

You might be thinking, “Lord, I’ve been praying, I’ve been fasting, I’m checking my watch — but You’re not here yet.”

Let me encourage you: God doesn’t move on your schedule. He moves on His own — and it’s always the perfect time.

Being from Jamaican culture, we have a saying: “Soon come.”

It’s not about a fixed time — but you can trust that the person is on the way.

That’s how God moves. You might not know exactly when or how — but you can be sure: He will show up, and He will be right on time.

God is not late. God is not worried. God is faithful.

When God Moves, Chains Fall

When the angel of the Lord came to Peter in prison, something incredible happened:

The angel touched Peter’s side, and the chains fell off.

No fight. No search for keys. No struggle.

When God steps in, chains simply fall.

The same is true for you. No matter what prison you feel trapped in — financial hardship, health battles, broken relationships, mental warfare — God has the power to break you out.

He doesn’t need assistance. He doesn’t need permission. He already holds the key.

Freedom Requires a Response

But here’s something important to remember:

Freedom requires a response.

When the chains fell off Peter, the angel gave him a command: “Get up. It’s time to go.”

Sometimes, when we’ve lived in captivity too long, we get comfortable staying where we are.

We think, “Maybe I’ll just stay here a little longer. Maybe it’s safer.”

But the truth is, if you stay where God has already set you free, you’ll miss the glory He has prepared for you.

Get up and go.

Move into the freedom that God has already given you.

Final Word: Your God is a Chain Breaker

No matter what chains you’re facing today —

Your God is bigger. Your God is stronger. Your God is better than anything standing against you.

Maybe your bank account looks empty — but God can turn it around overnight.

Maybe your health report looks grim — but God can heal you while you sleep.

Maybe your family seems dysfunctional — (and if you’re honest, sometimes it’s you) — but God can bring order out of chaos and beauty from brokenness.

Here’s the truth I want you to take with you today:

Your God, my God, our God — is a chain breaker.

So, rest in Him.

Trust His timing.

Respond to His call.

And walk boldly into your freedom!

You are not forgotten. You are not forsaken. You are free.

Waiting on God can feel heavy — but don’t worry, He’s an on-time God. Chains are breaking! Freedom is yours. Read more here.
