Waiting for Your Isaac
There is a difference between what God promises and what we try to produce.
Abraham and Sarah were given a word a promise of a son. But in the waiting, pressure crept in. Time passed. Doubt whispered. And Ishmael was born out of human effort. It looked like progress, but it was not promise.
Then Isaac came.
Not forced. Not rushed. Not manipulated.
At the right time, in the right way, with God’s blessing.
Isaac represents what God births things marked by grace, not strain. Things that bring laughter instead of anxiety. Things that don’t cost you your peace to sustain.
Waiting for your Isaac is not passive it is deeply spiritual. It is the discipline of trusting God when nothing seems to be moving. It is choosing obedience over shortcuts. It is surrendering timelines and allowing God to remain sovereign.
Because when Isaac comes, you will know:
You didn’t force it.
You didn’t beg for it.
You didn’t break yourself to build it.
God did it.
And it will carry joy, not just results.
Prayer Points: Waiting for Your Isaac
1. Surrender the timeline
Father, I release my expectations, deadlines, and pressure. Teach me to trust Your timing, even when it stretches me.
2. Repent of striving
Lord, forgive me for every Ishmael I have tried to create out of fear, impatience, or comparison. I choose Your way over my way.
3. Strength to wait well
Give me grace to remain faithful in the waiting. Help me not to grow weary, bitter, or discouraged.
4. Discernment between Ishmael and Isaac
Open my eyes to recognise what is from You and what is from my own effort. Give me the courage to let go of what You did not author.
5. Alignment with God’s will
Align my desires with Your purpose. Let what I long for be what You have spoken.
6. Capacity to carry the promise
Prepare me for what I am praying for. Build my character, my faith, and my capacity so I can steward my Isaac well.
